'Maid to Love' is a unique collaboration between Catman and Musivaria Mosaics Italy.

The piece was created in Italy from Catman's original artwork design, using black marble and Venetian enamel; the same material used for Byzantine mosaics. 

 

The piece took a total of 308 hours to complete.

The ancient firing technique, originally developed in Venice, in classical antiquity was used to produce the enamel. There are currently only three companies in the world capable of producing this type of material.

The panel the mosaic is laid on is made from honeycomb aluminium which is a light and resistant fiberglass panel, whilst the glue used is Kerabond (a cement mortar), and Isolastic (a latex that makes the mortar elastic and resistant).
